Short blog this week, I’m afraid. Summer has ended, everyone is back from vacation, business is picking up all over… and more business equals more language services needed. All in all, it’s good to be busy at work!
This weekend, however, TrueLanguage will be taking part in an event that should be of interest to many in the language services industry. The Atlanta Association of Interpreters and Translators (AAIT) is giving its 7th Annual Conference on Saturday, September 28th, just north of the city in Roswell. This all-day event includes talks by prominent translators, interpreters, and language service providers, on such subjects as professionalization, ethics, and the challenges of working as a freelancer. Speaking of freelance work: perhaps the most interesting part of the day for freelancers will be a “speed mentoring” session, in which novice translators will have the chance to sit down with a series of experienced pros and ask them whatever questions come to mind.
This should be a fun and stimulating event for all, and TrueLanguage will be there as a sponsor, to learn and make new contacts. Will we see you there? Visit the AAIT website for more info, including the conference’s schedule of events – and if you come, look for our table and say hello (in any language)!
